Aretha, Elvis, Madonna... Oh My!
My most unattainable life dream is to be able to sing as soulfully, and skillfully, as the Detroit born and raised Queen of Soul.
Her gospel records made you want to go to church, R-E-S-P-E-C-T was the first word I probably learned how to spell, and her version of 'I Say A Little Prayer For You' is superior in every sense of the word.
By no means is this tune representative of her amazing range, but the first time I remember being aware of Aretha was when my mom would play this jam featuring her beloved beau, George Michael.
And now the Queen is hanging with the King. I can't forget my guy Elvis, today.
I'm not sure i'll ever watch this scene and not get totally weak in the knees. I know I wasn't even close to being a human on planet earth when this was filmed but I'd like to think that if I was, he'd be singing this directly to me. Also, how unfair that the good Lord would give a man such insanely long and luscious lashes. He is a babe in every sense of the word.
And the happiest of birthdays to Madonna who turned 60 today! Talk about a career that spans an actual life time- she's inspiring for so many reasons but mostly because she always found a new way to entertain her current fans while gaining new ones. This song is my favorite for so many reasons.
